The Heart Behind it All

Little Bluebird Smocks has always been about so much more than clothing. It’s about family, childhood, and creating the kind of memories we hold onto long after our babies aren’t so little anymore.

The name Little Bluebird is especially close to my heart. It was inspired by my late grandmother, who helped raised me and meant the absolute world to me. She loved bluebirds, Some of my sweetest memories are of being in the kitchen with her, helping her while she cooked. She would look out the kitchen window to see what birds had come by, and I can still hear her saying, “Lauren, would you look at the pretty little bluebird?” It wasn’t one particular moment, but one of those little things she did so often that it became a piece of her I’ll always carry with me. When it came time to name the business, Little Bluebird felt like the perfect way to keep a piece of her with me.

Little Bluebird began after I had my daughter and fell in love with classic Southern children’s clothing. I had so many ideas for the pieces I wanted for her, and when I couldn’t quite find what I was envisioning, my husband jokingly told me I should just design them myself. What started while I was working full-time in the medical field grew into something I never could have imagined.

There have been so many moments along the way that we once thought would never be possible, and I know without a doubt they have only been made possible through God. Our faith has been at the heart of Little Bluebird from the very beginning. So many prayers have been prayed over this business, over every decision, every season, the clothes we create, and especially the precious children who will wear them. My prayer has always been that we would honor Him in the way we grow this business and never forget Who made any of it possible.

Today, getting to see children wear Little Bluebird for their own special moments is one of the greatest gifts. My hope is that years from now, when you pull out an old photograph or pass down a favorite little outfit, you remember not only what your child was wearing, but how little they were, what made them smile, and all the tiny details of that chapter you wish you could hold onto forever.

That is the heart behind Little Bluebird faith, family, memories, and a little bluebird that will always remind me where it all began.
